Supporting local good causes has always been something that we enjoy doing as a team here at Mathews Comfort.

Our Hunger Action Month initiative last autumn was very successful, with a joint effort between our staff and clients collecting 60 kilos of food items for Witney food bank – thank you for your contributions!

At a whole company meeting last December, our team asked if the company would make a quarterly donation to a good cause and came up with an idea of having “three charity pots”. Colleagues chose three good causes, and if you visited our office during Q1 you may have popped a token into a pot for one of three charities, which were:

  • BLUE CROSS- animal sanctuary
  • ICE – inclusive care and education
  • SANDS – support for bereaved families

The votes are in, and we are delighted to confirm the charity with the most tokens was: SANDS. On hearing about our fundraising initiative, Strategic Partnerships Manager, Isabella Snyder, commented:

“Thank you to everyone at Mathews Comfort for your kind donation of £250 to SANDS’ work saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. Sadly, 13 babies a day in the UK are stillborn or die shortly after birth, and many more people are affected by pregnancy loss. We are determined to save every life we can, and we will make sure the right care and support is there for every bereaved family, whenever and wherever they need it”.

Now we begin our fund raising for Q2, and you can be part of this when visiting our office, by popping a token in one of the pots:

  • THE OLIVE SHELTER – providing emergency accommodation for those in danger from domestic abuse
  • HELEN AND DOUGLAS HOUSE – providing support to families of terminally ill children
  • DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY (DMD) – working to advance treatments and care for everyone affected by DMD.

The company is also looking to support our colleagues with fundraisers that are close to their hearts – we have one or two marathons coming up and no doubt some cake baking – watch this space!
