Apprentice Programme
Mathews Comfort’s Apprenticeship Programme goes from strength to strength, attracting high calibre young people to both the company and the industry, and opening the door to careers in both general insurance and financial services.

First established in the 1990s, the company enjoyed a number of early success stories, including Russell Thynne and Daniel Weston, who are now both directors of the company. Today, Russell oversees the commercial insurance team and new business, and Daniel now a part owner of the company, operates as an Independent Financial Advisor, specialising in wealth management, trusts and corporate clients.

In recent years the scheme has grown in importance and is actively supported by the Government as a means of attracting young people into the industry. Committed to the programme, Mathews Comfort continues to employ a number of apprentices and can boast a number of success stories, with candidates qualifying in both financial services and general insurance.

During the two-year programme, apprentices attend college and study for an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration, as well as working alongside skilled members of staff in the office and gaining invaluable ‘on the job’ experience. This can include day-to-day administration, simple valuations, contacting providers, processing applications and keeping clients informed.

While they train, apprentices are very much part of the team at Mathews Comfort and, once qualified, are encouraged to continue their studies and career progression.
